An infamous duo whose combined value is greater than the sum of their parts, Maureen Hughes and Shimmy Marcus, the heart and soul of Bow Street in Dublin. Maureen and Shimmy established Bow Street in 2014. They not only run the most advanced and practical screen acting courses in Ireland, but also The Actors Studio, Young Filmmakers Academy, Spotlight Ireland and Bow Street Talent Agency.

Maureen trained as artistic assistant under Garry Hynes at Druid Theatre Company in the ’80s and went on in 1992 to work in the Abbey Theatre for two-and-a-half years as Head of Casting. She moved into film & TV working with Susie Figgis on casting The Butcher Boy and subsequently went out on her own to cast several major screen productions, including the Oscar®-winning films Six Shooter and Once, and recent award-winning RTÉ productions Love-Hate, Charlie, Clean Break, and Rebellion. Film credits include: Agnes Browne, Borstal Boy, Disco Pigs, Noble, and This Must Be The Place.

Shimmy has won a variety of awards for many films including the features Soulboy starring Felicity Jones, Martin Compston and Alfie Allen, and Headrush with Wuzza Conlon and Steven Berkoff. He has also directed numerous shorts, documentaries, TV dramas, and music promos. He joined The Factory in 2010 and went on to establish Bow Street with Maureen in 2014. He has taught film-making and acting for many years and is a co-founder of The Screen Directors Guild of Ireland.
