Noel Pearson began his career managing The Dubliners. Moving into theatre, he became Chairman and then Artistic Director of the Abbey Theatre. His many successes as theatre producer include, Brian Friel’s Dancing at Lughnasa, winning four Tony awards, later adapted into the film he produced.
His entrance into film production with My Left Foot (1989) won him two Academy Awards to much critical acclaim. He followed this with The Field (1991), with lead actor Richard Harris nominated for an Academy Award. His production company, Ferndale Films, recently developed the adaptation of Sebastian Barry’s novel Secret Scripture, directed by Jim Sheridan which is to be screened at the festival.
