We’re delighted to present a rare screening of Mojo on Thursday, May 22nd at 4.30 (Dir. Jez Butterworth, 1997, 90 mins) at this year’s Festival. This seldom seen cult British noir is a hidden gem of 90s cinema and a must-see for fans of bold, character-driven storytelling.
Adapted from Butterworth’s award-winning stage play, Mojo is a gripping dive into the dark underbelly of rock-and-roll-era Soho. Blending razor-sharp wit with simmering menace, it’s a thrilling exploration of ambition, power, and exploitation. Aidan Gillen electrifies in a breakout performance as the dangerously volatile Baby, alongside Harold Pinter as the chilling crime boss Sam Ross.
The screening will be introduced by Aidan, followed by a Q&A with Bow Street Academy Director Shimmy Marcus.
Aidan is one of Ireland’s most compelling actors, internationally recognised for his work in Game of Thrones, The Wire, Love/Hate, and Bohemian Rhapsody. Known for his magnetic screen presence and daring roles, Gillen’s early performance in Mojo marked a turning point in his career and remains one of his most explosive roles to date.
