We are delighted to welcome back Ross White and Tom Berkeley to Schull in May, to screen their latest award winning short film ‘The Golden West’.
Co-directors Ross White and Tom Berkeley directed ‘An Irish Goodbye’, which won the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film last year. In May they will screen their multi award winning short film, The Golden West and take part in a post screening Q&A.
The Golden West is set in 1849, and follows two warring Irish sisters who, having fled the Great Famine, seek their fortunes in the gold rush. But with winter fast approaching and nothing to show for their efforts, their age-old feud soon threatens to become deadly.
The short stars Aoife Duffin (Moone Boy) and Eileen Walsh (The Magdalene Sisters) as sisters Fionnula and Noreen. The short also stars Welsh actor Sion Ifan (Hidden).
Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Best Short Film at: Raindance Film Festival, Aesthetica Film Festival and Norwich Film Festival among other awards.
Tom and Ross will also host our infamous Film Quiz on Saturday May 25th. Not to be missed if last year is anything to go by!
